Our First Month in Preschool

Welcome to the preschool blog! This will be our new form of communicating what's happening in the classroom. I will still occasionally post photos on Seesaw, but this blog will be the main form of communication from now on.  Please expect this once a week from here on out.

Reminders:

-Please send in a family photo if you haven't already.

-Please make sure your child has extra clothes in their backpack.

-Now that it is getting a little colder out, please make sure to send your child with a pair of outside shoes and inside shoes.

Building a community:

We have spent this first month of school really focusing on building connections. Getting to know each other and what our community is all about is key to creating a space where everyone feels like they belong. We build our community through a variety of ways such as, coming together for daily gatherings, singing songs that include everyone's name as well as reading stories together and asking questions.

Much of our time together in preschool will be spent on figuring out how to be together in a classroom setting. This usually includes lots of work around feelings and emotions, friendships and problem solving.

Ask your child to sing Hicklety Picklety Bumble Bee with you! We have been singing this one a lot as we get to know everyone.

Who are the teachers?

(Photos coming soon!)

Ms. Kaitlyn- Preschool Teacher

Ms. Kelly- Preschool Assistant Teacher

Emily- Instructional Assistant

Elizabeth- Instructional Assistant on PK 4 days

Fun fact about our teaching team, we all have the name Elizabeth somewhere in our names!

Illness:

Now that we don't have a strict set of regulations for COVID in schools, you might be wondering when is it okay to send my child in? It's not COVID so can I send them?

Our guidelines for illness are as follows,

A child may not attend if they have experienced any of the following in the past 24 hours:

-a fever

-vomiting

-diarrhea

We will call you and your child will have to go home if any of these things have happened at school. A child may not return until 24 hours have passed symptom free without the aid of medicine.

The other reason we might call to have you pick up your child is if they are unable to keep up with the group due to not feeling well with a cold, etc.

While it may not be COVID, it really is best for your child to stay home if they aren't well. Rest and fluids are so important for the body to heal, and it will happen much more quickly if your child has a solid opportunity to rest.

Please reach out if you have questions about these guidelines.
